Although the term "family" encompasses much more that mere genetic makeup, some of you may wish to avail yourselves of some modern techniques to "fill in the blanks" of your genealogical research.

It should also be emphasized that (with the exception that the President and Vice-President of the Family of Bruce International
must carry the surname of Bruce or one of its recognized septs) we are all equal family members and that family is more than genetic makeup.

Bruce Genealogy Books

There are few Bruce genealogy books that have been published over the years with lineages. They may be available through your local library or via the Inter library loan program. Some of these books are International and may be very hard to find.

I recommend, , to search for used books on the Bruce family. I have found and purchased many of the books below, however prices and quality of the book vary. Be cautious when ordering.

Robert The Bruce The famous King Robert, "The Bruce", I of Scotland. Many books are available new and used at most bookstores. I recommend the one by John Barbour, 1320-1395, translated by George Eyre-Todd. Published originally 1907, but available by Mercat Press, 1996. John Barbour was the first author of The Bruce, which was completed in 1375.
